The Hackathon

Regeneron invites industry-leading NLP platforms and companies to compete in the 2022 Regeneron Hackathon. We’re looking for existing companies with NLP services to compete in the hackathon for the chance to win $5,000 - as well as the potential to win a multi-year contract to work with Regeneron commercial team to build NLP capabilities across therapeutic areas!

If you and/or your company are interested in competing - register today and create a company profile page! Companies that create a profile page will be reviewed and possibly selected to compete in the hackathon. If selected - you will be invited out to New York in October to pitch your solution live to the Regeneron team!

Who Should Attend

Startups that are working in the NLP space are welcome to join the hackathon and create a company profile page. We also invite startups that are looking to make their entrance into the healthcare/pharmaceutical space - as long as they are already working with NLP products/services.

Challenges

For the hackathon - there are four main use cases that we are focusing on. Once the final teams are chosen to participate - your company will be asked to focus on one of the following use cases. Regeneron and the organizers will decide which use case we would like our participants to focus on: 

Use Case #1

Mining customer insights through community forums/social media to feed into unmet need assessment for new indication and new product launches.

Use Case #2

Curating internal market research interview libraries to develop key themes and quick understanding of a disease area, treatment journey, etc. (Ex: answer specific questions that a user may have utilizing those reports).

Use Case #3

Sentiment analyses and language/messaging refinement particular topics of interest utilizing market research interviews.

Use Case #4

Mining EMR notes (if available) to transform unstructured data to structured.

Prizes

All teams that fly out to New York for the in person demo day will receive $5,000! We are currently planning on 5 teams to be chosen as finalists - but we will keep our participants informed if we plan on increasing or decreasing the number of teams for the demo day.

Judging Criteria

All projects will be judged using the following criteria - each criteria is weighed on a scale of 1-5 - 1 being the lowest possible score and 5 being the highest.

Value

Is this a solution that Regeneron can use for years to come? Can other teams at Regeneron use the solution? Is there cross-department value? 

Innovation

Is this a unique approach/new type of solution? Is the solution differentiated from others already on the market? Is the solution original?

Investment

What type of monetary investment will be needed to implement the solution? Will there also be a costly, or efficient, time investment as well?

Implementation

How soon can the idea/solution be implemented? Is this a 6-month venture? Or, will it take years for Regeneron to adopt the solution?

Scalability

Is the solution immediately scalable? Is there any roadmap or plan for future improvements and features?

Registration Opens!

Hackathon Kick-off: Join us for the kickoff webinar! 

Competition begins! The event will officially begin after the kickoff webinar. Teams have until September 19th to finish their projects.

Webinars: We will announce any upcoming webinars shortly.

Project Submission: Publish your projects by Sept 30th for the demo day!

Judging: Projects will be judged on-site! 

Winners Announcement! We will announce which projects were the most impressive, and all teams that submit and are eligible for the demo day will receive $5,000.
